Where in the world is the
romance?
It's where you find it. In
Paris
and
London,
Venice
and
New York City, romance is alive and just waiting to be
discovered. Often subtle, unexpected and sweet, romance is less about the cash
than the
imagination.
Whether on white-sand
beaches or dirt roads, soft snow or the deep, blue
sea, most couples need some time to rest, renew, rejuvenate and remember what brought
them together in the beginning.
Romantic Adventures are more than simple loving gestures or
regular dates, although that's what provides the necessary foundation. A
romantic adventure is an extraordinary demonstration of love
and commitment, an experience that lets your beloved know that he or she is
loved and adored by you. It's an outrageously fun, intimate
connection, and the memory of it never fails to bring a smile. It's all the
heightened emotions that make romance an adventure.

"...From the moment we arrived at the Cheeca Lodge,
we had nothing but fantastic service and an amazing experience. All of our
guests felt the same way.
... I would definitely reccommend this resort as a place to take a
romantic trip, host an event, or take a family vacation - there's so much to do!

We're on a
mission to help people in love stay in love, and have
lots of fun while doing it. You and your beloved together explore what
makes you feel most loved , what interests you share, what new
activities you might be willing to try, how much privacy you want, and what
level of surprise is comfortable to each of you.
So if you and your honey are
ready to return to romance, the world is definitely your
oyster. Start at home. If the budget won't allow an ambitious
expedition this year, have a romantic vacation without leaving town.
Pretend you are visiting your
home city as a tourist. Have you seen all the sights downtown?
Try that new restaurant that just opened. Go back to the
places where you hung out while you were dating.
Go to a
concert, a nightclub, roller
skating, dancing or to a ball game.
Go someplace you can't take the kids. In short, do what couples
do
-- not what
families do.
It's not necessary to wait
until stress is overtaking you before you make that move. Plan now to
play later
.
To really feel like a
kid again, head for Disney
World in Orlando.
It might surprise you to know that the kid's fun palace is just
the place for some grown-up R&R (that's rest and
romance). Now that you've paid off the charge cards and the car note,
it's your time to splurge on yourself. There's a less frenetic side to the
Vacation
Kingdom, like jazz and
blues at the newly opened House
of Blues, salmon steaks at breakfast,
leisurely spa treatments, golf and
tennis
.
A BET SoundStage
Club for jazz, soul,
hip-hop and R&B will open this spring in
the Downtown
Disney
entertainment zone.
For a rocking romantic
time, you can't beat New
Orleans during Carnival. This year the
two-week-long Carnival season begins Friday, Feb. 13, and
extends through Tuesday, Feb. 24. Can't make it for Carnival? Don't
despair. The city always boasts hot seafood and
cool jazz
.
For that special
anniversary or vacation, head for the
islands. Relax on sun drenched beaches,
be refreshed in the clear aqua blue seas, duty free shop for
the brands you love, dine on Caribbean delicacies , enjoy
world class golf courses or revive your spirit in our
spas....We welcome you to experience all the Caribbean
has to offer through All
Vacation Ideas.
Which of the Caribbean?
Begin at the beginning and start with Anguilla,
a popular destination for honeymooners and one
of the best dive locations. Antigua
and Aruba
boast beautiful beaches
and great weather year-round, averaging 82 degrees.
In Barbados,
a full range of watersports beckons -- snorkeling,
scuba diving, fishing,
boating, wind surfing and
parasailing. Golf is also an
attraction
.
The Islands of the Bahamas
offer fun-filled days of activities, and by night it's calypso,
jazz and more. Known for its local seafood,
including conch and grouper, the local
Bahamian restaurants offer spicy, native food
with a taste of the Caribbean.
If you're considering getting married in the
Bahamas, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism offers a
complimentary "Weddings in Paradise" service that puts engaged
couples in touch with a ministry officer who will help make all the plans --
from location and flowers to music and food. Marriage
requirements for the Bahamas
are minimal -- couples can wed after only one day in the
Bahamas. Happy couples arriving in the
Bahamas on Monday may come into the register general's office
on Tuesday, obtain a marriage license for $40 while waiting and
be married on the same day.
Jamaica
has long lured lovers to its beaches, lush tropical forests,
sporting activities and tempting cuisine. From
all-inclusive resorts to luxurious villas to
small and intimate inns, Jamaica has
accommodations to suit every budget and romantic pleasure.
Getting married in Jamaica is a simple process requiring a
24-hour stay before applying for a license. You will also need a birth
certificate, divorce papers or death certificate (if
applicable). Don't forget to sample the appropriately named
"matrimony" fruit salad.
Bermuda
is also an ideal romantic retreat. Recently rated the No. 1
island among the "Top Ten Islands in the Caribbean,
Bahamas and Bermuda " by Travel & Leisure
magazine, romance is always on the menu. With
its pink-sand beaches and more than 200 square miles of reef
formations for scuba divers, the island offers a wide selection
of honeymoon packages . Typical packages include
airfare, accommodations, meal
plans, champagne upon arrival, flowers
in the room and special discounts at local
attractions and restaurants .
We invite you to learn about
the unique experiences available in our 25 featured Caribbean

which are a part of All Vacation Ideas. You'll love this region: the people, culture,
and of course the sun and sand. Each island has something

lodging, dining, shopping, spas and sports. Armed with this information, make

world
.
Imagine that you have a choice of 10 of the
most unique romantic venues in the Caribbean and limiting one venue to each
island. Which ones would they be and why?
We particularly recommend you Raffles
Canouan in the
Grenadines. The spa has
over-water palapas that you get to by rowboat. During your
massage you're looking down through a window in the floor at
the fish swimming below. After your spa treatments, you and
your mate lounge there in your own private palapa. The
villas are secluded by dense foliage, so there's plenty of privacy. There's also
a secluded beach on the other side of the island that's usually deserted.
***
Cayo
Espanto , a
small private island resort
off
Belize
offers the ultimate in privacy and
service. A handful of luxury beachfront casitas with alfresco showers and plunge
pools are scattered around the island. You could stay here for a week and never
see another soul except the maid and the fellow who brings your drinks and
serves your meals anywhere you want them.
*** Even though
Casa de Campo
in the
Dominican Republic is a big,
bustling resort, it's also
romantic. Strolling
through the cobblestone streets of
Altos
de Chavon by lamplight and dining in outdoor cafes is
wonderful. It's a cliff-top
Medieval village
recreated by hand of stone, wood and iron in the
1970s to house an artists' colony, shops and restaurants.
*** We also recommend you the beach at
Half Moon Resort in Jamaica ,
particularly
watching the sunset from the
gazebo out on the water. The villas along the beach are
secluded by hedges and many have private pools that are perfect for a
moonlight skinny dip.
***
Four Seasons Nevis has a
great beach to
stroll at sunset
, and you can arrange to have a private
dinner for two served at a table right on the beach. The spa is also
exceptional. After your treatments you can swim in the secluded garden waterfall
pool, or relax in a lounge chair listening to the waterfall.
***
Laluna is a small 17 cottage resort
on a secluded white sand bay in
Grenada.
It's owned and designed by fashion designer
Bernardo Bertucci.
Canopy beds, outdoor showers,
excellent meals
and a
great private beach.
Couples only . If someone doesn't find
this place romantic, we'd advise that they check their pulse!
***
Island Outpost has small intimate properties in
Jamaica
and one in the
Bahamas.
Golden Eye,
Strawberry
Hill,
The
Caves,
Jakes,
and
Pink
Sands.
IO is owned by
Chris
Blackwell of
Island Records and who discovered
Bob
Marley. Each of the resorts is
very
romantic and
developed for
lovers
. They are all very special properties.
***
Kamalamae Cay is a small property on
a private island in
Andros
in the Islands of the
Bahamas. This is
the ultimate in seclusion. You'll only see the other guests there if you wish.
There is plenty of space on the island to explore. The cottages themselves are
made for romance with
wonderful bathrooms,
amenities, and
beds. The staff in very
attentive and catering to the
couples needs .
***
Ladera, St. Lucia has won just about every award for excellence in the
Caribbean. It's also blessed with arguably the best view across
from the
Mountains in
St.
Lucia. The villas are high up in elevation so there is
never a bug problem which allows for the villas to have an open wall with
awesome views of the
Pitons.
Many of the villas have plunge pools as well. The meals are to die for as their
restaurant Dansheen
also wins numerous awards.
***
Le Toiny is a ultra posh resort in
St.
Barth. It is comprised of private villas each with its
own pool, large bathroom, living room, and
separate
bedroom. Every conceivable
amenity is included from high end stereo to flat screen TV. Breakfast is served
on the lanai next to pool in the villa. The restaurant is also one of the best
on the island.
Not honeymooning? No problem.
Several cruise
lines are offering special packages for
lovers. Princess Cruises hosts an annual renewal of
vows ceremony on each of its nine ships during its Valentine's Day
cruises. Couples who book by February 14 can benefit from
the Love Boat Savers package. The cruise line
also offers intimate tables for two romantic dining with your
partner in one of the main dining rooms or in a private alcove
in the 24-hour bistro.
The Royal Caribbean
Cruise Line offers a program it calls Royal Romance. which
gives couples the option of five wedding packages and a
vow-renewal program. Prices range fro $400 for renewing vows to as much as
$1,200 for an island wedding in the Caribbean.
Romance
blossoms in the U.S.
Virgin Islands (USVI) as well, and the
shopping is even better. The islands boast the highest duty-free allowance in
the Caribbean ($1,200). The three islands of the USVI also
offer beautiful beaches, crystal-clear water
and year-round warm weather.
On the island of St.
Thomas, the Grand
Beach Resort is offering a Sweet Indulgence
package for couples, including five nights'
accommodations, breakfast, a choice of two spa
services per person, a $50-a-person voucher for the beauty
salon , a half-day of snorkeling of a sunset sail. Prices are lower
after April 3, which is the low season on the island.
Islands aren't the only place
to find romance. Songwriters,
novelists and lovers sing the praises of April
in Paris -- or Paris at any other tie of the year. For the
ultimate romantic fantasy, how about a weekend
in Paris?
This year, with a three-day advance purchase. Air
France is offering round-trip airfare to Paris for $289
from JFK or Newark airports through March 24.
Travelers must depart on a Thursday or Friday and return the following Monday or
Tuesday; some restrictions do apply.
So whether its snorkeling,
snuggling, sightseeing or all three, couples can return to
romance at any of these destinations at their
leisure.
